Order of Canada Heb11:11-16 By faith even Sarah herself received power to conceive seed when she was past age, since she counted him faithful who had promised:
wherefore also there sprang of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea-shore, innumerable.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own.
And if indeed they had been mindful of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return.
But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city. Below you will find section of news articles which relate the events of the order of Canada, above is the text from the Letter to the Hebrews from which the Order's motto came from. There is a small problem, the "they desired a better country" refers to the Heavenly one, hence any efforts which we make here on earth forgetting about heaven become useless. Order of Canada is a useless award because it contradicts itself. This certainly is a warning to all Canadians against the politics of our democratically elected powers. Notice how Morgentaler blames the church of dividing Canadians on the abortion issue. The events surrounding Canada Day this past week are a perfect opportunity to launch a country wide debate:
Freedom of Speech
Abortion - a murder
Birthrate - lost lives of Canadians to abortion
Support of Families in our tax system
Why pay for an abortion from public healthcare funds?
Perhaps we should pay double the amount abortion costs to a woman who gives birth to a child in Canada.
What does United Church do when it organizes meetings in celebration of Morgentaler's award.
Comment by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on the awarding of the Order of Canada To Dr. Henry Morgentaler
03 July 2008
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops is dismayed by the upcoming appointment of Dr. Henry Morgentaler to the Order of Canada. We believe that linking this award to a procedure as harmful as abortion constitutes a serious error which undermines the significance of the Order of Canada.
On the Governor General’s website, it is written that “The Order of Canada’s motto is DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM (They desire a better country)â€. Far from improving our country, Dr. Morgentaler’s actions continue to create controversy and division in our nation. In the name of freedom of choice, he has encouraged the development of a culture of death and has thus attacked the most vulnerable, the unborn.
Awarding such a decoration in this context discredits the Order of Canada. It amounts to an inadmissible affront to the numerous Canadians who dedicate their lives to the protection of the most vulnerable, especially the unborn.
We ask the appropriate authorities to reconsider this nomination and not to award this distinction to Dr. Morgentaler.

Morgentaler's comments:
However, Morgentaler said Canadians will remain divided on abortion as long as the Catholic Church maintains its strict opposition, but said change is unlikely under the current pope, Benedict XVI.
He said he is surprised the negative reaction to his honour from religious groups "is not more violent that it already is ... The negative opinions all come from the usual suspects: the Catholic Church, fundamentalists, women opposed to women's rights."
On Tuesday, the Roman Catholic archbishop of Toronto, Thomas Collins, said Canada's highest honour had "been debased" and called for the bestowal to be revoked.
Morgentaler said Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who distanced himself from the appointment by pointing out his government has no role in such decisions, "represents a reactionary party, a party which harbours many anti-choice members, some of them quite prominent, and I think it is to his credit that he has silenced them." He said opposition to abortion on religious grounds does not trouble him, "as long as they are not allowed to influence other people, by force or by any other means."
Women are no longer killed, injured or left infertile because of abortions, he said. "There are people out there who would otherwise have been murdered. That makes me very happy indeed," he said.
A recent Globe and Mail online poll with 300,000 respondents found those surveyed were overwhelmingly against abortion-rights activist Dr. Henry Morgentaler being honoured with the Order of Canada -- 92 per cent against, eight per cent in favour.
The Order of Canada is the highest civilian honour within the Canadian system of honours, with membership awarded to those who exemplify the order's Latin motto, taken from Hebrews 11:16, desiderantes meliorem patriam, meaning "they desire a better country." Created in 1967, the order was established to recognize the lifetime contributions made by Canadians who made a major difference to Canada, as well as the efforts made by non-Canadians who have made the world better by their actions.06.07.2008. 14:23 This article hasn't been commented yet.
