    Liturgical Year New

At the beginning of this new liturgical year, the Church asks us to meditate on a liturgical spirituality. But to acquire this kind of knowledge, we have to be sensitive to the themes and flavour of the different seasons we celebrate throughout the whole year.
The way we participate in the Eucharist or the way we enter into private prayer is shaped, explicitly or implicitly, by the context that this liturgical year provides every day. The mystery of the Incarnation and all the implications of the Christ-event are far too great for us to appreciate all at once, because each of the Christian mysteries brings its own special grace. This is why the Church, in its wisdom, has arranged its liturgical calendar in such a way that the mysteries of our faith can unfold for us in its various aspects at a pace throughout the year that permits our understanding and response. In this way, time itself becomes something sacred as we begin this new Advent season. I hope that your knowledge and enthusiasm for Advent and other sacred times will deeply enhance our parish life and your own personal spirituality in appreciating the richness of our faith and countering the prevailing secularism, especially during the next four weeks.

    Prayer for All the Deceased
By Thy resurrection from the dead, O Christ, death no longer hath dominion over those who die in holiness. So, we beseech Thee, give rest to Thy servants in Thy sanctuary and in Abraham's bosom. Grant it to those, who from Adam until now have adored Thee with purity, to our fathers and brothers, to our kinsmen and friends, to all men who have lived by faith and passed on their road to Thee, by a thousand ways, and in all conditions, and make them worthy of the heavenly kingdom.
Eternal rest, grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
    |Letter of St. James|
